Warsaw quake’s: VERVA Street Racing

No tickets were left at Poland’s greatest motorsports event last weekend. 58.000 people in the sold out Warsaw stadium watched the spectacular car show “VERVA Street Racing”. Kuba Giermaziak and Patryk Szczerbinski with their Supercup cars really thrilled the spectators. Team manager and old-hand Franz Konrad was at the start as well.

A completely filled arena, numerous stars and a really impressive show – what sounds like a football game of the Champions League was nothing else than this years VERVA Street Racing Show. Since 2010 Warsaw is once a year the place for one of the most spectacular car shows of the world. Rallye cars, monster trucks and motorbike artists provided a show that will be remembered by the fans from Poland for a long time.

Also the Porsche Supercup played a decisive role: altogether six Cup-911 delivered a thrilling show race in front of the 58.000 visitors and the heroes of the fans were of course Kuba Giermaziak and Patryk Szczerbinski. “The event was pure fun and the fans were really enthused”, Giermaziak looks back. “To drive in front of such scenery is really marvellous. Now I got an idea of how the football players must feel.”

Also Franz Konrad was involved in the action. The team boss of Konrad Motorsport took a seat behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT2 from the 90’s. The car, which since that time is owned by the team, belonged to the favourite vehicles of the crowd in the sold out arena. Also the Konrad-Saleen, which is well known from its use in Le Mans and in the ALMS, was part of the racing event. “I was a great fun to sit behind a steering wheel of a race car after all those years again”, Franz Konrad was pleased. “Some of the good old memories came alive again.”

By the way: The British TV-Show “Top Gear” reported live with a special edition from the Warsaw. With their magazine, the team around moderator Jeremy Clarkson was one of the highlights of the “VERVA Street Racing” event.
