Christian Engelhart claims second victory of the season

With a strong team-performance the drivers of Konrad Motorsport impressed in the first race in Zandvoort: Victory for Christian Engelhart, position five for Christopher Zoechling and a podium for Rolf Ineichen in the B-class. Also in the second run on Sunday the trio collected many points.

“Now we are back in the fight for the championship!,” Christian Engelhart said happily, after he had just claimed his second victory of the season. A victory which meant a lot of hard work for him. From his sixth starting position he became the cleverest driver in the starting period. “It was a really confusing situation in the first corners, there was oil and water all over the track,” described Engelhart. He kept a cool head and quickly improved to the second place. Due to an accident in the midfield, the track barrier was heavily damaged. Therefore the race was suspended after the first lap and not resumed before Sunday morning.

Around ten o’clock the lights turned green for the second part of the first race. After the leader Nicki Thiim had been penalized for unsportsmanlike driving, Christian Engelhart became the leader and did not give up his winning position until the end. “Nevertheless it was a hard fight, because Robert Lukas put a lot of pressure on me,” the happy race winner explained. Also in the second race he collected many points for his fourth place, so that the fight for the championship is open again. Engelhart is now only ten points behind the leader with 40 points still to be awarded in the last two races in Hockenheim. “A track where I have been very fast in the past,” Engelhart challenges his opponents.

Also his team-mate Christopher Zoechling scored a really good result in the first race. From starting position 14 he started an impressing pursuit-race and finished in fifth. “If the race had lasted longer, a podium-finish would have been possible,” explained the Austrian, who had put the cars in front of him under big pressure in the last laps. The second race did not go according to plan for him: He was fighting for a top-10-result until he fell back to position 23 due to a puncture just before the end.

Rolf Ineichen contributed his part to the great team-success of Konrad Motorsport as well. In the hard-fought first race he secured the second place in the B-class after some really exciting battles. In the second race it went even better for the businessman from Switzerland: He claimed the victory in his class. With these results he consolidated his strong position in the overall standings: After 15 of 17 races, Ineichen leads the championship by 19 points, ahead of Dominic Jöst.

Everyone, who wants to watch the successful drive of Christian Engelhart again, can do so already on Monday: German TV-station “n-tv” will broadcast an extensive summary at 6.30 PM. One week later also “sport1” reports about the Porsche Carrera Cup on Saturday, October 5, at 4.30 PM. In three weeks time the season finale will take place, as in every year, in Hockenheim.
