Konrad Motorsport claims the second strike

Konrad Motorsport conquered another win at the Sunday’s-Race of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in Oschersleben. After the success of Christopher Zöchling in the first race, Christian Engelhart snatched the victory in the second race. Thanks to the tremendous performance in Oschersleben the squad of Franz Konrad takes over the lead in the team standings of the championship.

“It couldn’t have been a better weekend for us”, Christian Engelhart summarizes the Oschersleben weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup. The German from Bavaria convinced with a flawless performance at the fourth round of the championship, winning with an advantage of about a second on the Dutchman Jaap van Lagen. Engelhart, who started from second grid position into the race, passed pole-setter Michael Ammermüller already in the first corner. “Afterwards I defended the lead until the end of the race. However, it was everything else than easy, because Jaap put a lot of pressure on me. Furthermore it started to drizzle and the track got really slippery”, explained the 27-year-old.

Thanks to this first season victory Christian Engelhart reasonably improved in the driver standings of the championship. The old-hand, who travelled to Oschersleben covering seventh position in the standings, now with 51 points ranks on second place, with even points with his team mate Christopher Zöchling. The two Konrad-Motorsport-Drivers are only two points behind championship leader Connor de Phillippi from the United States of America.

Zöchling, who celebrated his maiden victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup one day before, covered seventh rank in the race on Sunday. “I made the best of my starting position, so I can be satisfied with the race. I am still thinking about my first win. However, now I am looking forward to the next race, hoping to tie to the good results of this weekend.”

Rolf Ineichen, who competes in the B-Classification of the fastest one make cup in Germany experienced a weekend with mixed emotions. “In the race on Saturday I had a collision with an opponent and spun”, explained the Swiss. The 35-year-old did much better on Sunday. Thanks to a strong performance the Konrad-Motorsport-Driver celebrated his third victory this season and was able to defend his lead in the driver standings.

The highlights of the Carrera Cup weekend in Oschersleben will be shown on the German TV-Station n-tv on Monday, May 19th, at 18.30pm (MESZ). The next race for the Konrad-Motorsport-Drivers takes place on May 25th, when the second round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is held in the course of the Grand Prix of Monaco.
