Engelhart and Ineichen claim podium-results in Austria

The journey to Austria was a really successful one for Konrad Motorsport: Christian Engelhart claimed a podium-finish with the second position on Sunday, while Felipe Fernández Laser stood out due to an incredible pursuit race, which brought him from position 17 to the fourth place. In the B-Class Rolf Ineichen celebrated his first victory of the season.

After Friday’s practice session at the Red Bull Ring had been dominated by heavy rainfalls, the track dried up until the qualifying on Saturday. Konrad-Motorsport-Spearhead Christian Engelhart was not fully satisfied with his starting positions six and seven: “A step forward is surely possible in the race,” he showed his motivation. In the first race in the evening the 26-year-old turned his words into action and brought the 450 HP Porsche 911 home in fifth place.

In the second championship run on Sunday morning Engelhart made an even bigger step forward. On the wet track the man from Kösching was the clear winner of the opening phase: From his sixth starting position he quickly moved forward to the second place in the first lap and did not loose his podium-position any more. “An exhausting but successful race,” he was happy about the result. In the overall standings of Germany’s fastest one-make-cup the Porsche-Expert now covers the second position as well.

Also his team-mate Felipe Fernández Laser showed a good pace. After a mediocre qualifying the 24-year-old already improved up to the twelfth place from his 19th starting position on Saturday. Even more impressing was his pursuit-race on the wet track the next day. Starting from position 17, the man from Hamburg made his way through the field incredibly fast and crossed the finish-line as fourth. “What a race! I have rarely won so many positions before, this was a hard piece of work,” reported the satisfied young driver, who now covers the 8th place in the overall standings.

In the B-Class Rolf Ineichen is still on the road to success. Also at the 4,3 kilometres long circuit near the Alps the business man was behind the wheel of the third Konrad-Porsche. After the second place in the race on Saturday, the Swiss secured the top position on Sunday. “I am extremely happy about my first victory and really enjoyed the race,” celebrated the 35-year-old, who also leads the championship standings in his class with a great advance.

His team principal and born Austrian Franz Konrad was satisfied with the results at his personal home-race: “Christian showed a great race again and fought really tough. But also Felipe did a perfect job on the wet track. Winning so many positions under these conditions shows his whole talent.”

The highlights of the successful weekend can be watched again already on Monday, 3rd June, on German TV-station “n-tv” in a 30-minute summary. In two weeks the next two championship runs of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany are on Konrad Motorsport’s schedule at Lausitzring.
