Rolex 24h Daytona: Here’s what you should know!

The first major highlight of the season is right ahead. The team Dempsey Racing / Konrad Motorsport will be at the start at the famous 24 hours race of Daytona with two Porsche 911 GT3 America.

Who participates in the race?

Altogether 67 vehicles will line up for the 24 hours race of Daytona. The competition takes place in four different categories. The strongest category is the GTD-Class, in which also the team Dempsey Racing / Konrad Motorsport competes. Within this class the German-American crew will battle against around 30 opponents, all aiming to claim the class victory.

Were does it take place?

Venue for the “Rolex 24” is the Daytona International Speedway in the state of Florida. It’s a mixture of a high-speed oval combined with its demanding road track in the infield requiring everything from the race drivers. The 5,729 kilometres long circuit belongs to most famous race tracks of the USA.

How to follow the action?

There will be a comprehensive coverage in the US-Television. TV-Stations “FOX”, “FOX Sports 1” and FOX Sports 2” will continuously report from the event in Florida. However, all people who aren’t able to receive the US TV-Stations will be able to stay informed anyway. There will be a live-timing as well as a web-radio available on the official website www.imsa.com. What’s on the Schedule?

The event starts on Thursday, January 23rd. The race cars will be on the track for the first time this weekend for a free practice session at 9.30am (15.30 MEZ). Highlight of the weekend will be of course the race, which will be started on Saturday at 2.00pm (21.10 MEZ). The chequered flag will come out on day later on Sunday at the same time.
